Tints of Blue Hotel in Bangkok

One thing I noticed when I was last in Bangkok, was how modern it had become since the last time I was there. Granted, that was 20 years ago. With that there were so many cute boutique hotels to choose from, which is how I ended up finding Tints of Blue Hotel in Bangkok.

The Tints of Blue Hotel is off the main Sukhumvit road where you will find lots of restaurants, shops and even malls. It does take a little bit of effort to find the hotel, but once you get there, it's worth the walk. (Or the yelling at the taxi driver because he can't find it.) And if you feel that the alley is a bit too dark after night falls, the hotel offers free tuktuk rides to the main road and back to the hotel.

I was welcomed by two friendly ladies who offered me some tea before checking me in. While they were doing their paperwork I had a chance to look around the reception area. The decor is modern with a little mediterranean twist. Think lots of tile works in warm colours. There was a breakfast/communal chill out room giving out to a lovely styled garden.


Then I was taken up to my room.

My room was huge and even had a little kitchen, but food in Bangkok is so cheap, I didn't use it much. The bed was equally massive and super comfy. After I settled into my room, I did a bit of exploring.

I headed to the roof where I found a pool and roof terrace overlooking the high rises surrounding me. There were a few loungers, which is exactly where I plonked myself on my last day. It was a great place to while away the very last hours I had in Bangkok.

Next to the pool was a small gym, but I usually avoid those when I am on holidays.

After a wonderful night's sleep, I was looking forward to breakfast as the reviews on Booking.com sounded promising. It was indeed very luscious. There were fruits, yoghurts, lots of bread and jams, and steaming coffee pots and pitchers of freshly squeezed juice. No rice in sight although there was always a local breakfast dish on the menu if you wanted to order something less western.
