Jamaican Food at Rudie's

I’m eating around the world without leaving London and this week it’s Jamaican food at Rudie’s. Jamaica is very well-represented here in London when it comes to food, so it was actually hard to pick a place to go to. Too much choice. However, when Emerald Street wrote about the zingy cocktails at Rudie’s, the choice was a lot easier.

Cuban Food at Cubana

I’m eating around the world without leaving London and this week I had Cuban food at Cubana. Now I have been to Cuba and one thing that I didn’t think was all that memorable about my visit, was the food. I remember rice and beans and maybe some meat and fried plantains and that's it. Cubana’s food is a little bit more exciting than that.

To Cruise or Not to Cruise?

I never thought I'd say this, but I've just come back from a Carnival cruise in the Caribbean. I'd probably never gone on one if it hadn't been for my friend's wedding, but I have to say I had a fab week. However, to say that I'm now a cruise convert is stretching it a bit. So here's me weighing the pros against the cons.

What I liked:

The fact that you visit three or more countries in one trip. On this occasion we started in the USA and stopped off in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Mexico.

My Favourite Caribbean Islands

I'm currently on a cruise in the Caribbean. Yep, that's right, a cruise. Not something I thought I'd ever do, but one of my good friend's wedding is what brought me here. 

Now since I'm writing this pre-cruise and I read that internet doesn't come cheap on a Carnival ship, I thought I'd do a little reminiscing about previous Caribbean trips. So here are my favourite Caribbean Islands.

St Maarten

Not only is this island half Dutch and the only place in the world where Holland borders France, this islands has the coolest beach ever. Maho beach is located at the top end of the island's Juliana airport, making waves (literally) for beach goers. They go crazy every time a plane comes in to land, but the fun really kicks off when a plane is taking off. The jet stream it blasts across the sand, attracts some people (yes, me as well) to hold on to the fence behind it and literally be blown away by the sheer force.
