Welcome to my blog Passport and Toothbrush where you'll find all kinds of quirky things and some not so quirky things that I have encountered during my travels around the world and at home here in London.I'm Jaklien van Melick. Travel is my passion and I have had (and am still having) a long career in the travel industry. I currently work for Dolphin Dynamics as marketing manager and I blog for them as well. My travel career started in the USA 12 years ago where I worked as a holiday rep in New York City for a company called American Tours International. Since then I've worked and lived in many places around the world going from one metropolis to the next. I was lucky to call cities such as Dublin, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam and Jakarta my home.
Besides working and living abroad, I try to use every opportunity I get to travel. With passport and toothbrush in hand I try to visit at least one new country every year. Of the 60+ countries I've been to, Cuba and Japan are my absolute favourite, but you can find me somewhere on a beach in Spain where my parents live a couple of times a year. And of course the same goes for my beloved Holland.
I'm currently also eating around the world without leaving London. And so far it's been a ride. Here's a map of where I've eaten so far. Many more countries to come.
