Lebanese Food at Yalla Yalla

Hot weather calls for Mediterranean food, right? So as temperatures soared over the last week, I had Lebanese food at Yalla Yalla, which happened to come with a side of AC cold air. Nice.

Yalla Yalla serves Beirut street food from their two restaurants in Soho, but they have opened up a food truck near the O2 in Greenwich as well.We went to the one near Oxford Street, which wasn't all that packed. Maybe it is because it is set away from the main shopping drag. I walked into the soothing cool air of the restaurant where we had a table by the window.

We studied the email, but quickly decided we were not going to go for any mains. We picked some random mezze plates to share. The best bit of Lebanese food I think. We kicked off with some baba ganoush, which is made of grilled aubergine puree with tahini and lemon juice. Into which we lavishly dipped our free pitta bread.

We also had a portion of samboussek chicken, which are little parsels filled with minced chicken meat. We had some fattoush which is salad made of tomato, cucumber, lettuce leafs tossed with crispy bits of pitta bread and parsley.

The best bit was the grilled haloumi cheese dish. Oh, how I love the squeeky cheese. We added some battata harra which is a spicy dish of potato and chilli peppers. And last but not least, we had a dish of hummus, a must have dish when eating Lebanese food.

We probably could've done with 1 less dish, but all wrapped up in a doggy bag, it made for a good lunch option the next day. I loved loved loved Yalla Yalla and when you're looking for an authentic Lebanese eatery, I'd make sure to check them out.

  1. Oh wow! I love mezze, but it's so hard for places to get right it seems. However this looks amazing, especially the hummus!

  3. I remember reading the newspaper reviews when this restaurant first opened a few years back now and the first time I went back then, I had fab food and great service. Second time I went was around 3 years ago and it was good food but awful service but the Greenwich branch is pretty close to where we live and hubby has already relied on it for easy Friday night takeaway dinners on a couple of occasions en route back from work so I can see it become more of a regular feature on our lazy nights in :)

  4. Oh that is so convenient. The service was quite nice at this branch. The Oxford one that was.
