I'm eating around the world without leaving London and this week I had Hawaiian food at Kua 'Aina.
Okay, Hawaiian food is not exactly all that much different from any burger joint, but having dinner at Kua 'Aina does make a person happy.
The exterior looks like a beach shack with a surf board hanging above the front door. Inside it's palm trees, hula girls and Hawaii shirts galore. It's a colourful affair.
That goes for the staff as well. Our super friendly waitress really went out of her way in true American style.
The menu is very summery as well. Of course you'll find the standard American fare on it, but all have a Hawaiian twist to it. Pineapple burgers, lava grilled mahi-mahi with Monteray Jack cheese and huli huli chicken sandwiches.
One of my friends was late so we ordered a bowl of nachos with a pineapple and tomato salsa. When he finally arrived we ordered our mains. I went for a rosemary chicken and grilled haloumi sandwich. One of my friends went for the huli-huli chicken sandwich and another for the teriyaki chicken sandwich.
I wasn't able to finish mine, but I had ulterior motives. I had my heart set on a hard shake and needed to save some room for that. I got a chocolate flavoured one with a shot of rum.
I loved Kua 'Aina and we spent an evening in a laid-back atmosphere eating lovely food. Just what you'd expect from a Hawaiian style diner.
I can honestly say I don't think i've ever had Hawaiian food before! But this looks and sounds really yummy!
ReplyDeleteThe hard shake would be a must on my list too!

They seem to be all the rage these days, those hard shakes. Love them.
