If things were up to me I would abolish January and February. How nice would it be to go from New Year's eve straight into spring? No grey skies, Blue Monday and failed detox attempts. If you're like me and only really would like to go into hibernation for two months, I've got something to chase those winter blues away: Eat.
Through my 'Eating Around the World Without Leaving London' blog series, I've been introduced to the ever so popular phenomenon of supper clubs. It's a really fun experience which combines trying delicious food and meeting new people in relaxed settings. There are several sites where you can find supper club events and one of them is the website Tabl. They've got some great events coming up that will certainly make January and February go a lot faster.
Mad Hatters Brunch
Expect weird and wonderful food combinations served on hand-painted china in a fantastical setting with humongous playing cards and enormous bouquets of flowers at this banquet style supper club. Of course there will also be lots of tea and apparently a sweeping view of the Regent's Canal.
Jewish Food with Emma Spitzer
With this event you'll get three for one. The evening will kick off with a tasting of kosher wines, followed by a screening of the film 'Oma and Bela' and culminates with a three course dinner prepared by Masterchef 2015 finalist Emma Spitzer. You'll be served dishes that include salt beef and latkes.Macaroon Art
If you're a sweet-tooth with a creative side, then this creative supper club is great for you. You'll get the chance to decorate macaroons any way you like and then eat them, of course. Add some prosecco and blue popcorn and this will a culinary experience to remember.
Pancake Day Extravaganza
This supper club celebrates Shrove Day aka Pancake Day; a day that should really be an official holiday, I think. You don't have to don your runners and pancake frying pan for this one, but you'll be able to relax and sit down while enjoying various pancakes filled and topped with lovely relishes and dipping sauces.
Be My Valentine
Is your thumb sore from continuously swiping left on Tinder, then you'll love this event. You'll be served Nordic sharing food with a little Italian love twist. The men at the event will swap seats with every course, kind of like a speed-dating event, but with food. It certainly beats spending Valentine's on your couch with that tub of Ben & Jerry's.
