A Boozy Manicure at Cheeky Holborn

Rainy weekends call for some girlie pampering and since the last one was pretty much a wash-out, my friend Sandra and I headed to the Cheeky Salon in Holborn for a boozy manicure.

Cheeky is the affordable sister brand of Cowshed cosmetics and spas and offers bath and body, hair care, cosmetics and nail paints. The first Cheeky parlour set up shop at Barber and Parlour on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch,and now there is also one in Central London at the Hoxton Hotel in Holborn.

The salon at the Hoxton Hotel we went to oozes that Shoreditchy coolness; it's got that warehouse kinda feel with exposed brickwork, and industrial style floor and shabby chic furniture. My friend and I were booked in for a Cheeky Works manicure which is priced at a very un-shoreditchy low £20.

Admittedly we had our hearts set on the Cheeky Combo, which is a mani-pedi that comes with a free glass of booze, but since we were had booked on the day, the ladies couldn't accommodate us, so it's wise to book ahead.

We both picked our polish colours from a wide range of hues, before sitting down at the long treatment table. The mani included a mini hand massage, which could've lasted a wee bit longer in my opinion.

When all the filing, clipping and rubbing was over, the varnish went on and we were moved to the bar where we stuck our hands under the blow-driers. Since this usually takes a while, we treated ourselves to a glass of Prosecco, which our manicurist happily brought over.

When our nails were dry, we moved to the hotel bar of the Hoxton and stayed there the rest of the afternoon. I loved the cool yet laid-back atmosphere of the salon and the surprisingly low prices of the prices. I'm totally sold.
