I'm eating around the world without leaving London and this week I had Indian food at Spice Namaste. Spice Namaste is located a stone's throw away from the Tower Hill tube station and is run by celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala who I think I have seen on Saturday kitchen a couple of times. You know that show on Saturday mornings with James Martin. I thought this would be a worthy entry for my London round the world foodie tour.
With its brightly painted walls, pink curtains and cheerfully decorated tables, the restaurant is a very colourful affair.
The staff was extremely attentive and walked me to our table where my friends were already waiting, sipping their mango lassis and nibbling on papads and handmade chutneys. We skipped starters this time, wanting to leave room for sweets at the end.
The food at Cafe Spice Namaste is slightly different and I'd say a bit more creative than at your usual Indian restaurant. On the menu every dish was carefully explained and also listed how the dish was made.
I went for the Parsee Sunday Roast or Dhansaak, which was succulent lamb in a fragrant lentil sauce and came with jasmine onion rice and a bit of salad on the side.
Two of my friends went for a Goan Prawn Curry, which had the biggest prawns I ever saw. They were red sea king prawns and were served with a portion of red rice. I had a little taste and it was just as delicious as it looked.
I've been to Cafe Spice Namaste and had a cookery workshop with Cyrus, he is lovely and the food was delicious!

I really loved it as well. Great food. Shame I didn't get to meet Cyrus. :-)
DeleteThe food sounds amazing & looked it, I loved the look and sound of the sea-bass curry with garlic and a green coconut curry. I always steer clear of celebrity chef restaurants as the prices are always crazy but it was great that the prices weren't at this place.
